Tsangaris Motorsport is a father-sons team that is specialized in Rally racing. Currently, the team is located and operates in Toronto, Ontario, Canada since 2015 and have been involved in Toronto-based rally clubs through supporting their events and helping whenever possible. Our team originates from the beautiful island Cyprus, at which the mythical Olympic Goddess, Aphrodite, was born. Our journey began in 2002 when the Andreas Tsangaris began racing in his early 20's in the Cypriot Rally Sprint Championship, using a Lada Samara 1600RS. With gained experienced, our team then invested in a 1997 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV RS, which on the debut year with this car we managed to miss the Championship but just ONE point after transfer box failure.
Until 2015, Tsangaris Motorsport was a top competitor in the Cypriot Rally Sprint Championship and Cypriot Rally Stage Championship. Always staying loyal to Mitsubishi, all of our success came with the help of a Mitsubishi Car. In 2010 our team, with the support of Mitsubishi Cyprus, we built a super-fast Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX GT, our TSANGARIS EVO9. The car was specially designed by our team and crew, with a single goal in mind, making the fastest and most reliable EVO 9 in Europe. Our determination and hard work was awarded through the years, seeing us win 3x Group N Rallysprint Championships, 4x Regional Group N Rallysprint Championship, 1x Group N Rally stage Champion, and many more regional Vice-championships.
In 2015, our team completed the relocation of the team and car to Toronto. Due to different Rally regulations in Canada, we were introduced by the infamous FourStar Motorsport to the amazingly competitive OPEN CLASS rally regulations. Since then, we focus in slowly-slowly converting our Group N TSANGARIS EVO9 into the Open Class TSANGARIS EVO9. Although it took a long time for the project to be completed as our team and family was still being established in Canada, by early-2020 the car was ready. Unfortunately the pandemic hit Canada hard, therefore, cancelling all events on our schedule.
During the pandemic, our team managed to get participation in two Rallycross events organized by the MLRC club and PMSC club. With the team currently having two drives; our primary driver Andreas Tsangaris (41) and secondary driver & amateur George Tsangaris (21), our team managed to show what they are about. Andreas won both events and its car class, meanwhile George having in mind in learning the car behaviour and improving his time. George aspires to follow his father's steps and at the events we took part, he showed how much self-control he has. His greatest achievements in his latest event, was the improvement of his time by 21 seconds. His fastest lap, was just 9 seconds off his father's fastest lap.
